*If you don’t own a measuring tape, you can download and print the one we’ve provided below titled, Llynda More Boots Calf Measuring Tape. The numbers on the measuring tape represent real inches. Measure your calf circumference by wrapping a measuring tape around the widest part of your calf (usually 4-5 inches below the bend of your leg). Lay the measuring tape against your skin without pulling tight. Write down your exact calf circumference of both legs.
Below is a chart showing our BootTop sizes and the corresponding calf circumference of each BootTop size. This will enable you to compare your calf circumference to the BootTop sizes offered. Llynda More measured hundreds of women’s calves to determine the best all around circumference average for each size. For example 14 1⁄4 was the average calf circumference of women whose calves measured in the 14″ range, white 16 1⁄2” was the average calf circumference of women who calves measured in the 16″ range.
As you can see from the chart, a size 16 BootTop has a circumference of 16 1⁄2 inches. Therefore, if your calf circumference is exactly 16 inches around, a size 16 BootTop will have 1⁄2” of extra room. You might enjoy that extra room if you plan to wear your BootTops over jeans, or if you want it to be super easy to transform your BootTops into all the various styles. The tighter the BootTop is, the less easy it is to transform it. However, if your calf is 16″ and you are one of those ladies who prefers a tall boot to feel snug around your calves, you may not want 1⁄2” of extra room inside your BootTop. In that case, you could choose a size 15 BootTop with a 15 1⁄2” circumference. It would only be 1⁄2” smaller than your 16″ calf and should not feel tight since 1⁄2” is not that significant a difference.
Please be aware that the very top of the BootTop is about 1⁄2” wider than the calf circumference area, 4-5 inches below the bend of the leg. This is deliberate so that: A) You don’t experience the discomfort of material digging into the back of the knee when bending your legs, B) You can easily turn the top down to make a cuff and more easily transform the BootTop into other styles.
One thing is for sure. . . women’s legs come in many different shapes and sizes and no two women have the exact same shaped legs. Llynda More has done her best to accommodate everyone by researching, testing, and arriving at ‘averages’ that will make the largest amount of women on the planet as happy as possible.
How To Order Your Correct Boot Size
As all you savvy shoe lovers probably know, there is no real standard for sizing that manufacturers stick to. That cool metal contraption shoe clerks use to measure our feet in shoe stores (known as the Brannock Device) might be as close as we’ll ever get to a ‘standard’. However, our favorite brands’ manufacturers don’t necessarily stick to that either, as we’ve all learned through experience.
That being said, you’ve probably assigned a couple numbers to your understanding of what generally works for you, as most women say they wear between a size ______ and a size ________. So, how does that apply to sizing your Llynda More Boots?
Keeping in mind that our boots currently come in whole sizes and it has been reported to us that our boots run true to size, women who wear a half size usually buy a size up. For example, if they normally wear a 7 1⁄2 and they have a medium to wider foot, they usually buy our size 8. Only if a woman is a ‘spot on’ size 7, she rarely, if ever, wears a 7 1⁄2, and if her foot is narrow to medium, does she buy our size 7.
Hopefully, you will buy that perfect size the first time out of the shoe box, but even if you don’t, we have solutions! Because of the flexibility of our removable insoles, you can take out the 1/4″ thick insole that comes in the boot and put a thinner insole in its place if the size you order is a bit too small. We offer a 1⁄8” insole that you may want to add to your cart for this very reason. In fact, we highly recommend it. You can put our 1⁄8” insole on top of the 1⁄4” that comes in your boot if the size you order is a bit too large and you need to make your boot tighter. Yes, Llynda More Boots are all about flexibility and offering you More options than conventional fashion boots! Click here to add these insoles to your cart.

Helpful Fitting Hints
If Your Boots Feel Too Small
You can take out our removable insoles and replace them with thinner insoles of your choice to give your feet more room. This is one of the wonderful advantages of our removable insole design. It gives you fitting options that may provide that little bit of extra room you need to have a perfect fit! We offer a thinner 1⁄8” EVA foam insole for your convenience right here in our store. Click here to add these insoles to your cart.
Another possible solution is to leave our insoles in place, but give your feet more room simply by wearing your boots with very thin socks or stockings…or without socks entirely, if you prefer. There’s no worry about foot perspiration because you can take out and wash our removable insoles anytime you want.
Another additional advantage of our removable insoles is that you can replace them with your own special orthotics as long as the thickness and shape of them fits inside our boots.
If Your Boots Feel Too Big
Keep in mind that feet and toes are much happier and more comfortable not being overly scrunched up and squeezed, but if you still prefer a tighter fit, you can always add an additional insole either below or on top of our EVA insole, or you can wear thicker socks, both of which will give your feet less room inside the boot and tighten up your fit to make you feel supported and happy. We offer a thinner 1⁄8” EVA foam insole for your convenience right here in our store. Click here to add these insoles to your cart.
If Your BootTops Feel Too Small
Make sure you try them on with the reversible fabric on the outside, as well as the inside, so you will really understand how they fit. Some reversible fabrics are a bit thicker than others and when wearing the reversible side against your leg, it may feel a little tighter than when wearing the faux leather side against your leg.
You also may want to consider what time of the month it is. You know what we’re saying, girlfriends. Take a deep breath and it will all be over in a few more days. Then you can try on your BootTops again to see how they ‘really’ fit!
If your BootTops feel too tight in the calves because you ordered a size too small, but you would still prefer not having to return them, you can always comfortably wear the many slouch and mid-calf styles your BootTop provides that don’t cover the calf. However, if you want to wear the knee-high styles and those are too tight on you, we will be happy to exchange them for a larger size.

You also may want to consider keeping them if you plan to wear them over jeans and pants. The beauty of owning different size BootTops is that it gives you more options on what outfits you can wear them with. Some women have purchased two sizes of the same style BootTop for this very reason…one size that fits snuggly around their calves to wear with skirts, and one size that fits loosely enough to wear over jeans and pants. However, if you are sure you have no need for a looser fit and want your BootTops to fit more snuggly, we will be happy to exchange them for a smaller size.
